ID-FISH Technology is the leader in the development of diagnostic assays for detecting malaria, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases directly in clinical samples (e.g. blood smears, sputum  and tissue samples), using our patented FISH technique.   FISH is an inexpensive and highly efficient technology that exhibits the sensitivity and specificity demanded in today’s world where existing and newly emerging infectious diseases and drug resistance are responsible for much ill health and mortality in humans and animals.  By optimizing fluorescent probe technology, ID-FISH overcomes many inadequacies in existing diagnostics.  Babesiosis and bartonellosis FISH tests are already in use (offered as clinical tests by IGeneX Inc, Palo Alto, CA).  In addition, we are the first to develop highly sensitive and specific FISH tests to detect malaria (caused by different Plasmodium species) directly in blood smears.  Currently, FISH test kits are available for the detection of all five species of malaria parasites that cause human disease.  Testing includes the ability to differentiate Plasmodium vivax, P. falciparum and the zoonotic parasite P. knowlesi from other malaria parasites. These simple and cost-effective tests facilitate the better management of malaria patients around the world. Furthermore, our tests for tuberculosis, babesiosis and bartonellosis are valuable for detecting infections in livestock and pets which not only cause serious disease in the animals but can also be transmitted to humans.
